ISO 9001 implementation
ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems. We help you build a system that makes your processes clear, cuts non-conformances and keeps customers coming back, and gets you ready for certification. Our ISO 9001 consultants are based in Cape Town and work with your team on site.

Why ISO 9001
ISO 9001:2015 defines the requirements for a quality management system (QMS). It works for any size of organisation in any industry, from a small engineering shop to a national food manufacturer.
The standard is built on seven quality management principles, including customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, the process approach and continual improvement. In plain terms, it's sound business management written down: know what your customers need, define how your processes deliver it, measure the results and keep getting better.
For the organisation:
- Efficient, documented processes that don't depend on one person's memory
- Clear accountability and responsibility at every level
- Fewer non-conformances, less rework and lower costs
- Easier tender processes, since many tenders ask for ISO 9001
- A positive message to stakeholders, and stronger marketability
For your customers:
- Consistent, sustainable quality and service
- Products that comply with their specifications
- A supplier that's easy to audit, which retailers and large buyers value

- Check. We run an internal audit and support your management review.
- Certify. You choose an accredited certification body. We prepare you and support you through the certification audits.
Our principles: designed around your organisation · a lean, accurate system · the most effective route to system maturity · cost-effective consulting.

| ISO 9001:2015 | Clause 8 | Operational planning and control, including customer requirements and control of non-conforming outputs. |
| ISO 9001:2015 | Clauses 9.2 and 9.3 | Internal audit and management review. |

What is ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems. It sets out how an organisation should understand its customers, define and control its processes, manage risks and keep improving. The current version is ISO 9001:2015. It's the world's most widely used management system standard and can be independently certified.
How long does it take to get ISO 9001 certified?
Businesses with well-defined processes and good records can move faster. The number of sites, the complexity of your products and the time your team can give the project all affect the timeline. We give you a realistic timeline after the gap analysis.
Does BMS issue the ISO 9001 certificate?
No. Certificates are issued by independent certification bodies, which in South Africa should be SANAS-accredited. BMS builds the quality management system with you, prepares your team and supports you during the certification audits. Consultants and certifiers must be separate under the ISO accreditation rules.
Is ISO 9001 only for big companies?
No. ISO 9001 is designed to work for organisations of any size. For a small business, the system can be very lean: a few clear processes, simple records and a short internal audit. We size the system to your business, so you get the benefits without paperwork you'll never use.
Can ISO 9001 help us win tenders?
Often, yes. Many corporate and government tenders ask for ISO 9001 certification, or give extra points for it, because it shows a supplier has consistent, controlled processes. It also makes supplier audits by retailers and large customers quicker and easier to pass.
