Health and safety training courses
When an incident happens, the first question an inspector asks is "Was the person trained?", and the second is "Can you prove it?". BMS Holdings runs 20 practical occupational health and safety courses in Cape Town, so your first aiders, fire marshals, SHE representatives and managers can answer yes to both.

Training that holds up in an investigation
Our courses don't just tick the legal box. Each one is built around the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (the OHS Act) and its regulations, and around what people really do on the job. Delegates leave knowing what the law expects of them and how to apply it on your site.
Courses run for groups from your own workforce, so we can use your workplace, your hazards and your procedures as examples. Every delegate who completes a course receives a certificate, which becomes part of your record of who was trained, for what, and when, ready for an audit or inspection.

Training at your workplace
Most clients book a course for a group of their own employees, and we bring the training to them. On-site training means less travel and less downtime, and lets us use your own equipment, emergency plan and hazards as examples.
Once your people are trained, keep the evidence live: SHEQ24, a BMS Holdings company, tracks every certificate and expiry date in a live training matrix and flags who needs a refresher.
Which health and safety training is a legal requirement?
The OHS Act requires employers to make sure employees are trained to work safely, and several roles need specific training. These include first aiders, health and safety representatives and fire teams. Which courses you need depends on your size, your hazards and the appointments you have made. We can look at your workplace and tell you exactly which courses apply.
Do you train at our premises?
Yes. Most of our courses run on site for a group of your employees, which saves travel time and lets us use your workplace as the example. Practical parts of fire and first aid courses can be done in your own building, using your own equipment where it is suitable.
Do delegates get a certificate?
Yes. Every delegate who completes a course receives a certificate of attendance or competence, which you keep as evidence in your training records. Certificates are what an inspector or auditor asks for after an incident.
How do I know which courses my team needs?
Start with your appointments and your risk assessment. Every appointed first aider, fire marshal and SHE representative needs the matching course, and your risk assessment shows which other hazards need training. If you are not sure, send us your headcount and the type of work you do, and we'll recommend a training plan.
