Compliance through competence

Every employer in South Africa must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993. What that takes depends on your business: a small office needs very different things from a food factory or a construction site.

We start by understanding how your business works. Then we find the gaps, fix the ones that carry the most risk and train your people so the system keeps working after we leave. No generic templates, no file that sits on a shelf.

We work with businesses from SMEs to JSE-listed companies, with a strong base in food and beverage manufacturing, warehousing and construction.

How we work

  1. Listen. A short call or site visit to understand your business, your risks and what's driving the request: a client audit, an inspection, an incident or growth.
  2. Assess. We measure where you are against the law and your own goals.
  3. Fix what matters first. You get a prioritised plan, not a 200-page report.
  4. Build competence. We train your people so they can run the system themselves.
  5. Stay with you. Regular audits and updates as your business and the law change.

What does a health and safety consultant do?

A health and safety consultant helps a business meet its legal duties under the OHS Act and keep its people safe. That usually means risk assessments, legal compliance gap analyses, health and safety systems, legal appointments, audits, emergency plans and training. A good consultant also builds your own team's competence, so you're not dependent on them forever.

Do we need a full-time safety officer?

Not always. Many small and medium businesses don't need a full-time safety officer. They need a competent person to set up the system, plus trained appointees inside the business to run it day to day. We can act as your outsourced SHEQ support, with regular site visits and audits, while your own appointees handle the daily work.

Which areas do you cover?

We're based in Century City, Cape Town, and work across Cape Town and the Western Cape. If your site is further afield, ask us and we will tell you what we can do.

Where should we start if we have nothing in place?

Start with a gap analysis and a baseline risk assessment. Together they show which laws apply to you, where your biggest risks are and what to fix first. From there we build the system step by step, in order of risk, so you're never paying for things you don't need.
