Download course outline (PDF)Compliance starts before the first brick
On a construction project, health and safety duties begin long before anyone arrives on site. The client must prepare a health and safety specification at tender stage. Designers have duties. The principal contractor must answer the specification with a site-specific health and safety plan, and keep it current as the work changes.
When one party gets their part wrong, the whole project is exposed: delayed approvals, stopped work, or an incident that could have been prevented. This course gives each party a clear picture of their own duties and how they connect to everyone else's.
What delegates will be able to do
- Plan health and safety requirements into a tender
- Develop a health and safety specification (for clients and agents)

Who needs Construction Regulations 2014 training?
Anyone with a legal role on a construction project benefits from this training: clients, agents, designers, principal contractors, contractors and their site management. Each of these parties has specific duties under the Construction Regulations 2014, and the course explains how those duties fit together from tender to handover.
Does this course teach us how to compile a safety file?
The course covers what a health and safety file and a site health and safety plan must contain, and why. If you need the file itself prepared for a project, our construction safety files service does that for you.
Is this course only for large projects?
No. The Construction Regulations 2014 apply to all construction work, from small renovations to major civil projects, although some duties, such as construction work permits, apply only above certain thresholds. The course explains which duties apply at which scale.
Do you cover fall protection plans?
Yes. Module 8 covers fall protection, including what the regulations require in a fall protection plan and who must prepare and approve it.
